Christmas With A Camera On It's Last Leg

Christmas 2010

Japheth when he first woke up Christmas morning was surprised to find that there were a lot of presents under the tree.

We had the children's Christmas program the previous week.

So handsome.

Happy Birthday Maggie!

Today is Maggie's 1st birthday. What a day it has been. We were suppose to have play date at Bookadee in Forest City, IA but with the poor weather it had to be canceled. And then we were suppose to also have Ladies Aid but again with the weather and with some of the ladies being sick it was canceled as well. I decided to do an impromptu supper with homemade pizza, garlic and olive bread, and cake. We invited Pastor Halvorson over to enjoy the meal and festivities.

Maggie really enjoyed her cake.

So did Japheth.

She also really enjoyed her present.

Maggie got her first doll that wasn't completely made out of fabric.

Mickey Mouse Live Rocking Road Show

We were very fortunate to get 4 tickets to the Mickey Mouse Live Rocking Road Show. Japheth loves Disney characters with Mickey being his favorite. It was so much fun. Maggie enjoyed it a lot too, actually, I think she liked it more than Japheth. Some of the photos are fuzzy because Daddy dropped the camera, oops!

Welcome to the days of snow

Today Japheth and I went outside to make a snowman. I try to keep my promises to my kids but the snow was not cooperating. We could not get even a snowball to form let alone roll it around to get more snow to stick to it. So instead of playing in the snow I decided to get snow off the steps leading to the back yard. More work than it originally seemed. I had nearly finished when I realized, I shouldn't be doing such strenuous work being 8 months pregnant. I really don't want to go into labor so soon. I am seriously not finding an upside to snow, except for skiing and for Christmas. I suppose that is why Jim and I have our kids when there is snow on the ground, so that there is something else to do. Speaking of Christmas, it is only 18 days away! I love celebrating the birth of Our Lord.

Very soon we will be celebrating another birthday, Maggie's. She is going to be a year old on the 16th. I can't believe it has been that long, she has been such a great baby. I am not going to have a big birthday party but next Thursday is ladies aid so I thought I would bring treats and have Mags open her present from Mommy, Daddy, and Japheth. The congregation here is just like our family so I feel good about sharing her first birthday with them. Plus our families are unable to come down so we will celebrate the best we can. Now to figure out how to make a dolly cake that I want to make. I have an idea but I am not sure I can pull it off. I guess the only thing to do is try it.
